I took this photograph of Mari early one morning in Cape Town. The sky was overcast, the city still quiet, and there was a calmness in the air that seemed to settle gently around us. Nothing rushed or staged .. just a shared stillness.

Shot on 35mm film and left untouched, aside from a subtle crop, the image holds onto that original atmosphere. The space around her, the softness of the light, the salty beach air and the simplicity of the composition make this a wonderful calm portrait for the home. 

There is a sense of pause in this piece. A breath. A reminder that beauty often lives in the in-between moments, where nothing needs to happen.
