I took this photograph during a road trip along the Transkei coast with friends. I remember the long, empty highways stretching endlessly ahead, and the wild shoreline waiting at the end of it. The second moment lives inside the first. My friends lying along the ocean shore after a summer storm, the air still heavy, the light softened, and the sky layered with dramatic clouds.

That part of the coast carries something difficult to explain. A sense of openness that feels both grounding and expansive at once.
